eSims from O2 – the end of sim cards

eSIM is a small chip which is physically built into some of the latest mobile devices. O2 eSIM removes the need to physically purchase, insert and swap out a SIM card.

eSIM is compatible with any O2 tariff. Check out our O2 Business Sim Deals. Here are a few mobile phones that are able to use O2 eSIM functionality :

Apple iPhone XR and XS, 11 and 12
Google Pixel 3, 4 and 5
Samsung Galaxy S20/21 and Z-Flip

We expect most mobile phones from 2021 will have an eSIM on board, traditional sim cards will become redundant.

Setting up an O2 eSIM
Download the O2 eSIM profile with your phone and then activate your Mobile Phone Number by scanning the QR code from the pack. Each pack contains a unique SIM Serial Number, a unique QR code and a unique manual activation code that can be used if the QR code cannot be scanned.

ACTIVATING YOUR O2 ESIM
IPhone
Please make sure the iPhone is connected to WiFi
Go to Settings Mobile Data and select Add Data Plan
Use the phone’s camera to scan the QR code – confirm by pressing Add Data Plan
Your customer can change these settings whenever they like by going to Settings Mobile

Samsung
Please make sure the Samsung phone is connected to WiFi
Find your QR code in your eSIM pack
Go to Settings Connections
Select ‘SIM card manager’
Click the + button for ‘Add mobile plan’ under eSIMs
Select ‘Add using QR code’ and take a picture of the QR code on the eSIM pack (your
camera will automatically open) – confirm by pressing Register OK
